Since moving from California, I've tried a handful of Vietnamese restaurants for the pho. I found one with great pho, but awful service, and I haven't been back since.
I didn't realize how close this Saigon location was, and so I decide to give it a shot on a late night for takeout. The pho was great! But what stood out to me the most is how the (who I assumed to be manager or owner) was so nice and inviting. I asked if they had a specific drink, and while they didn't have it, he let myself and my daughter try some delicious mango drinks on the house! We chatted for a few minutes until our order was ready, and after making us feel so welcome, I will definitely be bringing my family back to try other items on the menu.
Great authentic food. Such good service. Definitely come here! I had the rice noodle bowl with pork and the crispy spring rolls also with pork.
I've been looking for a good pho place since moving to the area from NoVA. This place is it! Restaurant was clean. The pho broth was delicious, my husband kept slurping the broth which we normally don't drink but it was that good. M-F they have lunch specials for $7.95 which comes with rice or noodles and grilled meat, an egg or spring roll and a small bowl of pho on the side. Great deal for the amount of food. This will be our regular go to for Viet food.
Wow, I have been here a couple of times and I would give it 10 stars if i could. The food is excellent and some of the best service I've ever had. Nam is a funny guy and makes you feel at home. I would highly recommend this place it's the real deal.
This is the sister company to the Saigon in Newtown, the owners son!
The service here is great and you get good portions. I love a good bhan mi and the one here is only $3.95!! You can't beat that. I got the shrimp pho; fresh and crisp not too fishy, and the pork bhan mi with Taro and Thai tea bubble tea! Love it!
We told the owner about how the one in Newtown gave us free crispy rolls with a pho order, and he was more than happy to give us some too!
If you're looking for a nice, inexpensive fix come here, it's a great tiny place with a good atmosphere.
It doesn't get more authentic Vietnamese than here. Anytime I crave my mom's home cooked meals I come here.
The staff is always nice even when customers show up right before closing. If you're looking for authentic Vietnamese dishes that most pho places don't offer, come here or to their sister store off Newtown.
We love the Canh Chua Ca Kho To here. (Vietnamese tamarind soup with a catfish caramelized in fish sauce in a clay pot. There's also a Spicy Fish sauce on the side for the catfish in the soup). Vietnamese Soul Food!
This was my first visit. The staff was very pleasant. I was seated immediately and offered a menu.
I ordered the small Pho chicken soup. It was hot, the vegetables fresh and tasty.
Reasonably priced. I will be going back!
Very friendly & accommodating. Smaller restaurant than their location off Newtown, but the food is definitely good. Entrees are well prepared and put together. The price for the food is better than most places in the area. Food tasted great for the price. Will definitely continue coming back.
My family and I have been coming here for many years, first at the original Newtown Rd location. Out of all the places in Virginia Beach, we enjoy Vietnamese food here the most. The pho is awesome; the broth always hot and tasty. The bun (vermicelli noodles) is also very good.
The seating here is more limited than the other location, so if you plan on coming with a larger group it could be a good idea to call ahead.
Saigon Vietnamese Restaurant off of Lynnhaven pkwy?? Since when? Well actually this place has been here for quite sometime but the location is not my typical go to spot unless I'm stopping by to visit Glory's bakery for some pandesal.
This has been my second time visiting and last time I had came and had the lemongrass chicken with egg! Its not the one on a skewer. U get more meat and the smokey grilled marinated chicken is one of our favs. Nam was an amazing host and server. He is the son of the owner of the restaurant. It is a family owned business. The other Saigon on Newtown is the original branch of owner by the family..in which is ran by Nam's mother.
I would typically order the pho with the usual beef brisket and round steak with meatballs but I decided to try something new. I asked Nam, our server his personal opinion on the food. I went with his top choice which is his specialty. It has egg noodles, shrimp, fish ball, cuttlefish and roast pork with a side of pork broth and the the fresh spring roll.
The spring roll is something I like for its freshness and the creamy peanut sauce. When my fish came out...Nam made sure I ate the dish the way traditionally Vietnamese families would eat it. He prepared my noodles By mixing the sriracha with a little bit of hoisin, fish sauce and lime. The broth compliments well with it to warm the belly.
My first bite was ohh so good! Most people would go the traditional pho route but if u are in the mood to trying something new and u love seafood.. this dish was a hit.
I'm actually thrilled to have a Vietnamese restaurant closer to me. I have yet to try the pho here. But I'm definitely coming back to try it on my next visit.
